Popular Resistance and Liberation Theology - Witness Trip

WITNESS TRIP DESCRIPTION: This trip is a traveling seminar in Palestine focusing on multiple forms of nonviolent resistance with day trips to refugee camps, villages and cities; a day-long seminar with leading practitioners of popular resistance; and a day-long seminar in Ramallah with leading political, economic, and human rights analysts and organizations. 

WHO SHOULD PARTICIPATE: Persons who have made prior trips to Palestine and Israel and are familiar with the political and demographic issues of the conflict

Travel Focus:

Interaction with faith-based (Christian, Muslim, Jewish) liberation theology and secular organizations engaged in popular resistance issues, such as the following:

o What do we share in common?
o Where do we differ?
o How can we work together?
o What does the global solidarity

movement for justice in Palestine need from us NOW?

Daily site visits to cities and villages, such as Bethlehem, Ramallah, Nabi Saleh, Battir, Wadi Fouqin, Beit Jala / Cremison Valley, refugee camps, Tent of Nations, Hebron, Jenin, Bil’in, etc.

Day-long seminar on liberation theology and popular resistance

Post-trip Advocacy:

Resources and support for active engagement in justice efforts upon returning home

Trip Cost:

$1850/person includes double room occupancy in 3-4 star hotels (+$400 single), all ground travel, 2 meals/day, hotel, guide & bus tips, seminar cost, honoraria for speakers, guides, arrival transfer to hotel.

Does not include airfare, departure airport transfer, beverages other than water, personal expenses, insurance

Expectations:

Participants will read recommended literature and participate in regular group reflections and debriefings during the trip.

A non-refundable deposit of $500 is due November 25, 2015.
