Anti-War Committee Bio

The Minnesota Anti-War Committee organizes vigils, rallies, marches, educational forums, street theater, and civil disobedience actions to challenge the injustices of U.S. foreign policy around the world, but especially in the Palestine, Afghanistan, Syria, Iraq, and Colombia. As the number one recipient of US military aid, Israel subjects the Palestinian people to military occupation, apartheid, and settler colonialism. Ending US aid to Israel, supporting the Boycott, Divest, Sanctions (BDS) movement, and resisting political repression of the movement are at the top of our agenda. We believe in peace through justice, and we stand in solidarity with oppressed people here and abroad.

Anti-War Committee Workshop

The Anti-War Committee’s workshop “Advocacy and Action with Youth” will discuss the crucial role played by arts and culture for communicating political messages, the role of social media in outreach and consciousness-building campaigns, and the ways street protest energize supporters and raise the stakes in challenging power structures. We will share successes from our work, including our use of guerrilla theater and spoken word in street protests, multimedia arts fundraisers Dear Gaza and Rock for Rasmea, our #51DaysinGaza social media campaign, our die-in/civil disobedience action at Senator Franken’s campaign headquarters during the height of the 2014 Gaza massacre, and much more.
